"The Sacred Branch That Sings"
Keith Bear practices the art and craft of flutemaking as it was practiced by his ancestors in the time before power tools and standardized measurements. In contrast to the machine-carved flutes mass-produced by many modern flute-makers, Keith’s flutes are one-of-a-kind originals, hand-carved and shaped, and decorated according to the owner’s specifications.

Instruction
Keith Bear passes on these traditional flutemaking practices to children and other students in several ways. He includes flutemaking projects in his school residencies for students 4th-grade an upward. He also teaches flutemaking to private students in his home in North Dakota. He offers multi-day flutemaking workshops for Flute Circle gatherings.

Commissions
Keith Bear accepts commissions for flutes for a variety of occasions and purposes. Prices start at $500 plus shipping, handling and insurance. Custom flutes are made from a variety of woods – including “found” wood that may have been something else before it becomes a flute. To begin a conversation with Keith about your flute, please download the PDF Custom Flute Commission form, complete it and mail it to the address indicated. Scanned order forms can also be emailed to hosfeld@hosfeldartists.com. Keith’s flute commissions are completed as his travel schedule permits.
